It's an exciting life

that was said by my boss when we had lunch together at Mandarin Hotel Jakarta, on Wednesday.

My job title is a secretary, but I guess personal assistant is a better word to describe what I do. So on that day after I had done some translation and typing materials, I went to the hotel to bring the documents needed by my bosses.

After lunch, my boss had an appointment with the former president, Mr. B.J.Habibie, so we went to his house in Kuningan. The traffic there was so bad, luckily I know the way there including the short cut. So we arrived there at 2:51 PM. His appointment was at 3:00 PM sharp. Yay! We made it!

"Ruang Budaya" It is a very beautiful and luxurious foyer. I was amazed and impressed to see it and from here, I can deduct that the owner of this house is someone who loves Indonesia wholeheartedly.  The main entrance doors are made of wood and they are decorated in intricate "Kudus (name of an area in Central Java) Style". They look warm and inviting from the terrace.  There are five panels made of  brass, and each is representing the big 5 islands in Indonesia: Java-Bali, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi -Maluku and Papua.

And I shook hands with the former Mr. President himself. How lucky!

Living and working in Jakarta

Daily traffic jams, air pollution, water pollution, but every year, more and more people come to Jakarta to live and work here. We have this famous proverb "Ada gula, ada semut" meanings when there is sugar, ants will come.

I was born in Jakarta, I grew up in Jakarta, all my life I've been living here most of the time so it's no wonder if I love Jakarta.

Jakarta is full of opportunities for everyone. But Jakarta has a big problem. This morning I read that by 2014 traffic in Jakarta will be totally clogged and I think it has some truth. The other day, I tired to go to church in Kuningan and in the end I could not go there because there was a campaign for Governor of Jakarta. It was terrible.
